Metricito Talk ยท In development
Talk is our alternative to Microsoft Teams. Messages, calls, screen shares and files go straight from device to device, end-to-end encrypted. The only server signs people in and keeps the member list. It never sees what you say.
The everyday parts of Teams
One-to-one and group conversations, with channels for teams and projects.
Send files directly to colleagues, encrypted from your device to theirs.
Calls go direct between devices. Meetings of six or more use one participant's device, or your office's Talk Box, to pass on streams it cannot read.
Meetings for about 25 people with video, with invitations through Calendar.
Available, busy or away, shared only with the people in your organisation.
Shared notes and task lists that sync over the same encrypted connections.
How it works
Each device connects directly to the others. When a home router or a mobile network blocks a direct path, an encrypted relay passes the data on without being able to read it. Your organisation chooses its relays, and the defaults run on European hosts.
Groups use MLS, the IETF standard for group end-to-end encryption (RFC 9420). Every message, file and call is encrypted on your device and decrypted only on the devices of the people in the conversation.
Three keys stop anyone from adding a silent device to your account. Your organisation's root key stays offline, your own account key signs your devices, and the server can only list what those keys have signed.
What the server sees
| Stores | Your organisation's public key; each person's name, optional work email and public key; each device's certificate and relay address; the list of removed devices |
|---|---|
| Never receives | Messages, files, call records, contact lists, group membership or presence |
| Runs on | One small service in the EU that can move host with a DNS change |
Talk is in early trials. The code has not been audited and must not carry real conversations yet.
